IDE is unexpectedly reset during installation of Visual Assist

Visual Studio 2005 and older

Upon the initial installation of Visual Assist, the IDE restores to default all toolbars, menus and keyboard shortcuts. This behavior is by design of Microsoft, exists only in early versions of Visual Studio, and is required of all complex add-ins to those IDEs.

Visual Assist mitigates the inconvenience by side-stepping the reset during all subsequent builds of Visual Assist.
